Resides in Santa Fe, New Mexico, United States, along with his wife Susan.

He was a biologist for forty years before retiring a few years ago.

 

While watching his usual television program, the channel made a distorting sound, which to him sounded like a "loose wire".

 

A program came on and he recognized the news anchor but the dialogue was just a "bunch of squeaks and pops". And it only lasted ten seconds, before returning to normal television.
